Gordon’s School

State Co-educational boarding and day in Woking, Surrey

Built over a century ago at the express wish of Queen Victoria, as the national memorial to General Gordon, Gordon’s is listed as one of Britain’s outstanding schools by His Majesty’s Chief Inspector. A non-selective, co-educational day and boarding school, the school is in the top 5% of all schools in England and Wales for progress at A Level. However, the School’s ethos i s that a good education is not just about outstanding examination results, but a thorough preparation for life. Set in over 50 acres of Surrey countryside, Gordon’s is within easy reach of Heathrow and Gatwick Airports and close to London and train services.

The school accepts CEA and children from military families have priority for places. As well as providing the necessary environment for their physical, emotional and spiritual welfare, additional help is in place to plug any gaps in their education. The school boasts state of the art sporting facilities, a performing arts theatre and is an All-Steinway School. A rich seam of heritage and tradition runs through Gordon’s, whose Patron is His Majesty The King. Students are proud of its history. The tradition of marching, started in 1885, is continued with drill every Friday and regular whole-school parades. Marching not only instils discipline in the students but strengthens bonds and enforces unity and is just one of the many ways that students are encouraged to be the best they can be, for something bigger than themselves.
