Hurtwood House

Hurtwood House is the only independent boarding school specialising exclusively in the sixth form. Described by the Financial Times as ‘among the cream of the country’s best schools’, Hurtwood is famous for being wonderfully creative and academically rigorous. The school is a utopia for creative students, with drama, art, media, photography, music and dance being quite simply a way of life. The extracurricular drama is breathtaking, with over 40 productions a year, including everything from rock concerts to Shakespeare to 10- night Christmas Musicals featuring musicians and choreographers from the West End. Hurtwood’s production of ‘The Witches of Eastwick’ won the coveted ‘Best Musical’ award at the 2025 National School Theatre Awards.

If students are interested in filmmaking and Media A level, Hurtwood is the only place to be. Given the state-of-the-art TV studio and the fact the school has its own production company, it is no wonder that students from Hurtwood achieved the highest mark in the world for A Level Media for the last two years. For all the creative flair, Hurtwood is also reassuringly academic also offering a wide range of traditional subjects. Indeed, over 60% of all A-Levels taken in the last five years were awarded A* or A.
