The West Buckland School campus is naturally safe and secure, as it is set in 37 hectares of stunning North Devon countryside, beside the Atlantic coast.
As well as our traditional A-level programme, from September 2023, West Buckland will be introducing the IB Careers Programme (IBCP), offering students a more accessible qualification for those looking to go straight into the workplace, rather than through the university route. By offering this, we are providing wider options for our students in Sixth Form. Whilst both routes provide pathways to university and employment, they offer distinct experiences that will suit one individual better than another. Students can access university up to Oxbridge from both options.
A West Buckland School education is based around the development of our ‘four pillars’: Character, Sustainability, Technology and Internationalism. We believe that, by focusing everything we do, from our curriculum to our wide-ranging extra-curricular programme, on these four areas, we offer our students the best platform to successfully navigate and succeed.
The school currently has 150 boarders from 14 different nationalities, who enjoy a friendly and welcoming environment and a busy programme of evening and weekend activities. Outstanding facilities for our 150 boarders include 70 single, en suite bedrooms for our Sixth Formers, a new library and study centre and our outstanding Art and Design facilities, which attract students from all over the world.
