Keswick School, sheltered at the foot of the mighty Skiddaw mountain, not only leads the Lakes Language Hub, but it is also home to Lairthwaite Boarding House where 52 boarders from all over the world come together to share their experiences. Celebrated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2017, Keswick is a centre for outdoor activities and cultural experiences, making it an ideal base for our boarders to explore the Lake District.
Our Wellbeing Program urges our boarders to “Get Outdoors” and enjoy the region’s exceptional natural beauty and its pioneering conservation efforts. We encourage our boarders to take up this mantle and be environmentally conscious citizens who look after natural spaces and help create safe havens for wildlife. The house is set on the edge of the school grounds and only a two minute walk to school, where students receive an outstanding education (Ofsted 2024) from highly qualified, enthusiastic teachers and a supportive pastoral team. Experienced, caring boarding staff create a ‘home from home’ experience and we have two golden retriever dogs, Venus and Freyja who the children adore and who always want to play. To support parents, we offer a bespoke transport service to and from Penrith train station and Manchester airport for all major holidays.
