Ipswich School offers a great mix of classroom success and co-curricular opportunities. Pupils achieve excellent exam results, and go on to top universities. In 2024, 42% of GCSEs were graded 9-8 and 67% at grades 9-7, while at A Level, 84% of exams were graded A*-B and 97% were graded A*-C. We are the top independent school in Suffolk, and in the top ten of the East Anglia region for academic success (Sunday Times Schools guide).
We have a strong pastoral system, with tutors who know their pupils well, and specialist support throughout the school. Our co-curricular activities mean pupils develop a wide range of skills outside the classroom - achieving all-round success in music, drama, art and sport. At the core of our education is a desire to inspire our pupils so that they leave us with a body of knowledge, a portfolio of skills and a strong sense of self-worth and self-knowledge. We want them to develop skills in collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking. Boarders will be based in one of two boarding houses: Westwood (for boys) and Anglesea Heights (for girls). Both are close to the town centre, with plenty of shared facilities; Anglesea Heights also has individual rooms with ensuite facilities.
Ipswich School is located near the heritage Suffolk coast and beautiful countryside. We are within an hour of London Stansted (airport), London Liverpool Street (train station), and the historic university city of Cambridge, and under two hours from London Heathrow (airport).
