Haberdashers’ Adams is a selective state grammar school located in the rural market town of Newport in Shropshire. The education is free so you just pay the costs associated with boarding - from £4,619 per term for 2023-24.
Newport is approximately an hour away from Birmingham and a 90-minute journey from London by train. Our junior boarders (Years 7-10) live at Longford Hall, a Georgian mansion set in 100 acres of grounds a mile from the school. Beaumaris Hall, metres from the main school site, is home to our senior boarders (Years 11-13) who enjoy bright modern facilities and en-suite rooms.
Pupils consistently achieve outstanding academic results, with a 5-year average of 74% of A-levels graded A*-B and 67% of GCSEs graded 9-7. On average 8 students secure places at Oxbridge and 14 students go on to study medicine and veterinary degrees. Although we do pride ourselves on our academic success, we offer so much more. The outcome of a school should never be measured only in statistical summaries, but rather it is the journey, as well as the destination of our pupils, that is key to our success. This means we focus on every aspect of the development of our young people – their cultural, physical, moral and social development. We are passionate about helping our pupils to develop as confident, articulate young men and women who are interesting, balanced and care for each other.
